Electrical Contact
What are electrical contacts?
What is an Electrical Contact?
An electrical contact is a mechanical component that opens and closes electrical circuits through physical contact.
Electrical contacts are essential to a wide range of applications — including switches, relays, circuit breakers, security devices, commutators, electrical and electronic communication equipment, elevators, and automotive components.
As a core part of circuit control systems, electrical contacts enable the flow of electricity to be controlled with minimal physical force, regardless of the amount of electrical energy being managed.

Types of Electrical Contacts

RIVET contacts
There are various types from solid type to double clad type, and they are relatively easy to assemble, have strong contact force, and are stable. In addition, since it does not apply heat, it does not lose the spring property of the material and does not oxidize. Materials include Pt series and Au, Pd, Ag, AgNi, AgCu, AgCdO, AgSnO, AgSnO, AgSnOlnOx, AgZnO series, etc.

PLATE contact
It is used in electromagnetic switches, circuit breakers for central wiring, leakage circuit breakers, No Fuse Breakers, ACBs, VCBs, etc. The materials include AgCdO, AgSnInOx, Ag-W, Cu-W, Ag-WC, etc., and the shapes include circles, squares, and other special shapes.

Integrated Multi-Process Mold System
Traditional press molds typically require terminals (springs) and contacts to be processed and assembled in separate stages.
In contrast, Shinwha’s Integrated Multi-Process Mold System enables simultaneous assembly of terminals and contacts within a single, unified mold — incorporating multiple technologies into one streamlined process.
By minimizing process loss from individual mold component design to final integration, this system combines mold engineering, press technology, automation, and electronic control into a fully integrated workflow.
The result is a significant reduction in labor and logistics costs, along with a substantial boost in production efficiency and consistency.

SOLID TYPE
A contact made from a single metal or metal alloy, typically produced through solid forming methods.

DOUBLE CLAD TYPE
A cost-effective alternative to solid-type contacts, suitable for applications where solid contacts are traditionally required.

CLAD TYPE
A composite contact designed to reduce the cost of solid-type contacts while maintaining adequate conductivity and durability — optimized for economic efficiency.

BUTTON TYPE
A contact with a rear-side projection, specifically designed for resistance (spot) welding — commonly applied to springs or bimetal components.

TUBULAR TYPE
A contact specifically developed for use with brittle materials such as Bakelite (commonly used in circuit boards), offering improved compatibility and reduced risk of material failure.

PLATE TYPE
A flat-type contact used for brazing or spot welding, available in materials such as Ag-CdO, Ag-W, and Ag-WC. It is offered in various shapes, including round discs, square plates, and custom profiles.
